It is best to visit the airlines exclusive website to gain special information. Major airlines provide discounted special fares for certain area’s that they might be promoting or venturing into so always look in the special fares area.
Booking in advance is a sure way to receive a decent discount fare on a flight. Delta Airlines and United Airlines, offers 10% off mid-week couch fares when tickets are booked seven days in advance. Advance booking of 21 days or more will qualify for discounted rates on most flights. There are many zone-based discount rates on airfares as, and many travel and entertainment magazines also offer discount code coupons for air travel. Senior citizens sometimes get special rates, and children under two travel for free if in a paying passengers lap. Many airlines also offer student discount as a symbol of good will for future high fliers and frequent travelers.
It is often a very hard to keep track of the various discounts that you can take advantage of. You have to constantly search thru many airline travel sites on the Internet or keep in close contact with your travel agent. Going to a travel agent is not the best idea, as they no longer get any type of commission off of the deal. They on the other hand may be privy to offers that may not be advertised to the general public.
