Delta’s Los Angeles Expansion
Delta Air lines (tel. 800/221-1212; www.delta.com) is starting new service from Los Angeles to Jacksonville, New Orleans and Reno. Below are some sample roundtrip fares including taxes and fees:
Depart January 12, Return January 16
- Jacksonville to/from Los Angeles $229 with US Airways matching
Depart March 10, Return March 17
- New Orleans to/from Los Angeles $219 with American matching
Depart April 11, Return April 18
- Reno to/from Los Angeles $139 (Alaska and United are matching this fare for travel now through Feb 13 and Delta’s service starts Mar
The fare between Reno and LA strikes us as no great shakes, since Southwest often has this route for $59 one-way on nonstop flights. In fact, all of these routes are serviced by Southwest, so be sure to check Southwest.com to compare prices and service. Service to Jacksonville, FL and New Orleans, LA begins on December 15, 2006 and travel must be completed by March 31, 2007. Travel to Reno, NV beginning March 8, 2007 and must be completed by June 15, 2007. Blackout dates vary by destination. Purchase your ticket by October 16, 2006
